VOTE411: A one-stop voter guide open to local candidates
Candidates running in Woodbridge, Bethany, and Orange have been invited to participate
The League of Women Voters of Amity has invited candidates running in Woodbridge, Bethany, and Orange this fall to participate in VOTE411.org, the League’s nonpartisan online voter guide. Each candidate has been asked to log in directly to the system and provide answers to a set of questions about their background, priorities, and positions on issues important to the community.
Once submitted, those responses will be published on VOTE411.org in the candidates’ own words. Voters can then compare responses side by side and review all information relevant to their ballot. The guide is expected to be updated in the coming weeks, so residents are encouraged to check back before early voting begins October 20 and Election Day occurs November 4.
What VOTE411 offers
Launched by the League of Women Voters Education Fund in 2006, VOTE411 is a national tool designed to simplify election preparation. It’s been expanded and updated over the years to access, transparency, and ease of use for voters of all ages and backgrounds. By entering a home address, voters can see a personalized ballot guide that includes:
- Information about all races on their ballot, from local boards to statewide offices
- Candidate statements and answers to League questions
- Details on polling places, voter registration, and absentee or early voting options
The goal is to ensure every voter has easy access to trustworthy, nonpartisan information to help them make informed choices at the polls.
Why it matters for our towns
Local races often receive less attention than high-profile contests, yet they have a direct impact on schools, town finances, and quality of life. By participating in VOTE411, candidates from Woodbridge, Bethany, and Orange have an opportunity to present their ideas to the community in a consistent, transparent format.
The League has emphasized that participation is voluntary, but strongly encouraged. Voters are advised to visit www.VOTE411.org in advance of Election Day to see which candidates have responded.
Save the date: Meet the Candidates Night at Amity High School
In addition to VOTE411, the League of Women Voters of Amity will host a Meet the Candidates Night on Thursday, October 16, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Amity High School. All candidates for office in Bethany, Orange, and Woodbridge have been invited. The evening is designed as an introduction rather than a debate, offering voters the chance to hear from candidates and then meet with them informally. Visit the LWV-A website for details as they become available,
Voters are encouraged to mark their calendars and attend this event to learn more about those seeking to serve our towns.
