Step into history at the AWHS Holiday Open House

The Amity & Woodbridge Historical Society welcomes residents for an afternoon of music, cookies, and old-fashioned winter traditions

Step into history at the AWHS Holiday Open House

The Amity & Woodbridge Historical Society is opening the doors to the Darling Farmstead and History Museum on Sunday, December 7, from 2 to 5 p.m. for its annual Holiday Open House — a well-loved Woodbridge tradition that blends historic charm with small-town warmth.

Visitors are invited to step inside the evergreen-decked museum and imagine winter as it once was: before central heating, synthetic insulation, and snowplows, when a hot drink by the hearth was more than a comfort — it was essential. Volunteers will be serving an array of historic hot beverages and baked treats from the blazing fireplace, accompanied by the Society’s famous cookie buffet.

The afternoon will also feature live period music, children’s activities, a holiday boutique with gifts and crafts, and a bake sale. Weather permitting, guests can enjoy marshmallow toasting and popcorn popping outdoors.

The event is free and open to the public, and all are welcome to gather, linger, and celebrate the season together in one of Woodbridge’s most storied spaces. Visit the society’s website to learn more.
