Meet the Candidates: LWV-Amity Event Invites Voters from All Three Towns

The League of Women Voters of Amity, in partnership with Amity Regional High School’s Critical Issues classes, will host a Meet the Candidates event on Thursday, October 16, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Amity High School cafeteria (25 Newton Road, Woodbridge). Doors open at 6:45 PM for check-in and visits to student group tables in the main hallway.

The evening’s speaking portion will begin with a welcome from the League of Women Voters of Amity, followed by brief remarks by First Selectman candidates in each of the Amity townsWoodbridge, Bethany, and Orange. Each will have up to five minutes to introduce their slate, highlight campaign priorities, and share perspectives on issues most important to their community.

Candidates for all other “under-ticket” offices on the ballot in each town have also been invited to attend and will participate in the informal meet-and-greet hour from 8:00 to 9:00 PM. Tables for each group will be setup around the periphery of the cafeteria to facilitate conversations.

This nonpartisan event provides an opportunity for voters to meet candidates face-to-face, ask questions, and learn more about the individuals who will appear on the November ballot, including those running for the Amity Regional Board of Education seats representing each town.

The League encourages community members to attend to hear from candidates across the three Amity towns and to model civil, constructive conversation for students who will be observing.

A printed event program will be available at the check-in table at the event and can also be viewed as a PDF.
